Inspection of the spiral fluted rubber lining of the stator is critical when matching a stator to a rotor. Used stators tend to show wear in different location depending on how they have been used in the drilling process. The Gagemaker SBG Series of stator bore gages use a broad based gage head with a floating measurement shoe to locate the minimum and maximum internal diameters of the stator. The gage is lubricated and inserted into the stator. The gage is placed at predetermined location intervals as the operator takes dimensional readings either from an analog indicator or from an electronic Digital Readout box. The dimensions can then be averaged to determine the “size” the mating rotor needs to be. The SBG gages are available in three diameter ranges.
